The word of the Mayor

If the associated web is particulary rich and dynamic at Compiegne it is because the town counts today more than 350 associations, the Compiegne draughters is surely one of the associations which has over the years grown , always drawing in its ranks better players and in this way becoming a real showcase in this speciality. Today rich of more than 30 members, the local Club presidet by Doctor Norbert Ducos, can be proud of the path its made since its creation in 1969.

Each one of us can surely remember the games of draughts played in families since a young age. This society game , just like chess, with its multiple combinations, where opposants circle , the attack, is noless than, a tactic game which calls for big stategic capacities. A disciplin which the French have always excelled until the 1950’s , still today, they are placed in a good position.

The town of Compiegne is thus happy to host the 64th Draught Championship of France and within this, some of the most experimented specialist players like Ton Sijbrands , the Grand International Master and Laurent Nicault Champion of French  « National Grand Master » who disputed his first French Championship in 1985 at Compiegne, and who comes back to the Imperial city this year to dispute his title.

Thanks to the Compiegne Draughters for largely contributing to the organisation of this French Championship which we wish a lively sucess. Thanks also to its members for carrying high the Compiegne Colours during this National Competition. And may the better win !
